Berlin Calling October 26

1.      I feel that Icka does drugs to relax and that he feels it is necessary to work. To me it is a concept of feeling what his fans feel when they dance to his music. He can relate and be creative with his emotions or even get away from them because of a sad past.

2.      The girl who he was with in the bathroom seemed to be a big on cocaine (coke head). Ecstacy seemed to be another popular drug. Many I presumed took the drugs at his concerts.

3.      Drugs are a release from reality and Germany is adopting in my opinion the western hemisphere’s bad habits.

4.      In our society I feel that we share the same ideals for partying but it seemed that in  Europe unless you were seriously mentally ill that you were not really an outcast in society. Addictions are the same here I just feel that when Americans get involved that more die than recover and are able to go back to their lives. Few people get a second chance or even come out a better person.

5.      I felt that after seeing the kid in the institution knew who Ickarus through one of his concerts I felt that the younger generations can have their fun and still work and keep a serious career as long as they keep their fun and partying to a certain level where they can control it. Though Ickarus is addicted to drugs in he still takes his work very seriously along with Alice who puts up with many things that he and other artists have done in the past. She saw that he sobered up, that he was serious and in control of himself again, and that he had new music to prove it.

6.      This was my first cult movie. I thought it was weird at first but ended up liking it as the story moved on.

Sempember 28

Katczinsky

Stanislaus Katczinsky also know as Kat is the ring leader of Pual’s company. Katczinsky is a 40 year old man who, everyone looks up to him cause of his ability to survive and succeed in any situation. As a result he always leads his fellow German’s out of the dark hole they seem to always find themselves in. Kat right away in the story comes in with food for soldiers who all have empty stomachs. This defines who he is a self less soldier who looks out for his own company. He basically becomes Pauls older brother because they both survived as long as they did and realized they were on the same page for how to survive the war. Kat gets hit with shrapnel in the leg; so Paul must carry him back. As they head back to the camp Kat gets hit again and Paul finds him dead and devastated. Kat’s death was the final blow to Paul’s sanity and shortly after Paul died.
